EDITORS’ NOTES

On his debut, JAY Z is half hustler, all storyteller: There are the tales of drug dealers trying to make good while still wrecked by paranoia, such as “Friend or Foe.” But Jay also shows considerable lyrical muscle on “22 Two’s,” effortlessly stacking rhymes that reference the number two 22 times. On “Brooklyn’s Finest,” the album’s highlight, he trades rapid-fire bars with the then-king of New York, Biggie Smalls. The song is a lyrical tug-of-war, leaving no doubt that Jay has arrived.

Jay-Z One Of The Greatest.

Doubt

If Jay could ever get back to the rawness and incredible talent that he had when he released this album then i could say without question that he's the greatest but he still has to proove that he's better then tupac and Biggie or even such mc's as Talib Kweli then i could say he's the greatest. But anyways this is a great cd and anyone who likes pure hip-hop should give it a try.

Amazing

This album is the greatest Jay-Z album ever released. Didn't dumb down a single song for more money or radio play. The lyrics in almost every song are amazing!

Classic
